Unsere liebe Frau im Walde

The small hamlet of Unsere Liebe Frau im Walde (Our Lady of the Forest) is possibly one of the oldest settlements in the Deutschnonsberg area and is known far and wide as a place of pilgrimage. As early as 1194 a monastery ran a small hospice for the many travelers who came over the Gampen Pass heading towards the south.

The church, which dates from Gothic times is a real treat for the eyes. With its hand carved baroque altars, the splendid high altar and glazed rococo shrine containing an icon of the mother of God, it is for many believers a keenly visited destination.
