Welcome everybody in the Ulten Valley
The Ulten Valley is one of the last valleys in South Tyrol where the natural character, originality and distinctive features of a mountain farming area have been conserved. The rural culture and way of life can be seen at every turn in the valley.
The centuries old Paarhöfe (pairs of residential and farming buildings) with their characteristic block shape, wooden shingle covered roofs and facades decorated with geraniums are all symbolic of the simplicity that the area still retains today.
The 40 km long valley, which can be reached from Lana along a number of winding roads, extends far into the Stilfser Joch National Park. The valley's scenic variety ranges from wine growing areas in its lower reaches to the imposing three thousand meter plus peaks and the glaciers in the Stilfser Joch National Park.
The Ulten Valley is a true paradise in every respect. Enjoy its natural beauty by taking long walks on the 640 km of marked hiking trails, by mountain biking or by skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing in winter in the Schwemmalm ski resort.
